Further information on the biology of marine algae, their different species, geographical distribution, harvesting, processing, health properties, uses and applications can easily be obtained from university and public libraries, oceanographic institutions, research laboratories and especially in France where the study of algae has always held a prominent place with institutions such as CEVA - one of the participants in the design of the algae based Algo Dynamics® dietary supplement in sublingual spray format.
The Algo Dynamics® dietary supplement incorporates a blended extract of three edible algae :
Ascophyllum nodosum, a brown alga, part of the group of Fucales, of large dimension, harvested on the coast of Brittany (also found elsewhere along the European coast), containing polysaccharides, polyphenols, ß-carotene, vitamins B3, C and E and mineral salts of Iodine, Iron, Calcium, Manganese, Potassium, Magnesium, Sulfur, Silicone,….. It is traditionally used to combat excess fat and cellulite. Some of its constituents are known for their antioxidant, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory properties as well as for their capacity to assist blood circulation. It is incorporated in products manufactured for weight loss, skin and facial care, revitalizing, detoxifying, as well as hair care.
Palmaria palmata (common name : Dulce), a red alga, also harvested off the coast of Brittany (found as well on the Atlantic coast line) containing ß-carotene , vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, polysaccharides, amino acids, minerals such as Zinc, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Silicone, …..Its constituents are known for their stimulating properties, their capacity to regenerate and heal hair, nails and scalp. It is used as a tonic and in products for facial, hair and nail care.
Ulva, which grows in temperate and cold seas is also harvested off the coast of Brittany in France. It is rich in Magnesium, Iron, Potassium, amino acids, polysaccharides, vitamin C and ß-carotene. The Magnesium it contains is considered to help establish nervous and muscular equilibrium. It is often recommended for use in skin, anti-aging, and after-sun treatment products.
