Display Set Up

The next pages will give you an idea of what a display set up is like.  The display referenced was done for a "First Night" celebration.  All the fireworks used for this display were 1.3G and 1.4G repeater cakes.  The area were we were shooting from did not have the clearance to shoot anything larger than 1 1/2 inches. (This will by no means be a complete description of the pre-set up tasks, but hopefully there will be enough information to give the reader an idea of what takes place).

There is quite a bit that goes on before you get to the point of actually setting up a fireworks display.  Though by comparison, this was a small display, a number of things happen before the day of the display set up and the night of the display.

One of the first things you have to determine is the time duration of the display (this one lasted approximately 10 minutes).

If the display will be choreographed to music, you will need to choose the music.

Once the music has been selected the fireworks need to be selected.  This can be very time consuming (and fun).  For this display we used all cake (repeater) items.  We listened to a piece of the music over and over again and then chose a cake that matched the intensity and time of the (musical) piece.
