QUEENSTOWN - A SIP BEFORE DINING

Several of us met for drinks before dinner the first day in Queenstown, then a few more arrived, then a few more until we all were enjoying New Zealand wine on the sidewalk outside the restaurant.

Our two stays in Queenstown bookended the Milford Track Walk. Touted as New Zealand's adrenaline capitol I preferred more placid endeavors. It's a compact town, everything downtown worth seeing or doing within a 10 minute walk. The primary shopping area is a pedestrian mall. There are several booking agencies, government and private, ready to book your activities. For those outside city center most will pick you up at your hotel.

You can grab a quick snack at a curbside stand or enjoy a variety of restaurants. Thai, Japanese and other eastern countries are represented, or, if you're a confirmed carnivore, a big bloody steak is just around the corner. And don't forget the best ice cream, forget calories this is whole milk country, I've had in a long time.
