When I was 14 years old and only one year in the US from Jordan I took a dive into a public pool off a 12' board into a 15' deep pool. I didn't even know how to swim; all I knew was that I had to look up and see the sun and keep my head up high. I made it to the top but my swim bra didn't and I didn't know it was missing until a nice old man told me 'young girl fix your bra'. I was really embarrassed!
