Coffee Morning

Th recent Coffee Morning, held at Mynydd Y Mor, raised the excellent sum of £268 for MacMillan cancer Support. Lin and Ken who organised the event send their thanks to everyone for their donations.

Clairvoyant Special evening

On Friday 23rd October at the W.I. hall in Talybont there will be a "Special evening of Clairvoyance" with talented Medium John Deveraux. The event runs from 7pm till 10pm. Entrance will cost £4 including refreshments.

Literary and Debating Society

The first meeting of the new season was held on Thusday 15th October. Sadly the new President, Mr Colin Havercroft, was unable to be present due to illness. His place was taken by Mrs Rae Cleaver, Immediate past President. A minute silence was held in tribute to Mr Harrison Wilde, Mr Jack Lauder and Mrs Peggy Walk, who have all died during 2009. The Society's good wishes to Colin, with the hope of a speedy recovery. Traditionally the first meeting of the season is Presidents evening , Colin had chosen to invite Mrs Fiona Collins, a renowned story teller. She kept the audience enthralled with three of her tales of Welsh myth and legend. She was thanked, warmly, by David Clayton. The next meeting, on October 22nd will be addressed by Mr Jack Grasse on the subject of " Cader". Visitors and new members are always welcomed. Membership programmes are available at meetings and from the Communities First office.

Baptism

Pastor Dawn Robinson conducted Baptisms for members of the Elim Pentecostal Church on October 11th . She would like to express thanks to the owners of Sarn Faen caravan park for the use of their pool for this joyus occasion.

Karate

Sensei Petros, and all students from the Doragon Karate Club, would like to thank the following people for their kind donations to their recent course held at the Barmouth Leisure Centre. Mrs Buddug Jones, Heol Llewelyn, Barmouth: Harbour Fish & Chip Shop, Barmouth: Riverside Stores, Llwyngwril: Lemon Grass Restaurant, Dolgellau: L&L Barmouth: J&B Willbrooks, Dyffryn Ardudwy: Phil & Mark, Park Road, Barmouth.

Service

The Service at the Talybont Spiritualist Church on Thursday evening will welcome Martin Polley as guest medium. Further details of services can be obtained by calling Gail on 07730945849.

Tickets

The 50th Anniversary event for Barmouth Dragon Theatre is fast approaching, tickets for the Gilbert and Sullivan evening with D'Oyly Carte Theatre company are selling well, if you do not want to miss out on this celebratory evening you can contact the box office on 281697.

Paul Cowley and Rob Venebles

On Friday 23rd October there will be a superb opportunity to enjoy an evening of top quality Acoustic Blues featuring Singer/Songwriter Paul Cowley and Harmonica player Rob Venables. They will be playing in the arts room from 7-30pm. Entry will cost £6-50

Gullivers reminder

Hijinx theatre company will be playing their unique version of Gullivers travels on Saturday night in the Dragon Theatre starting at 7-30pm tickets can be bought at the door. A good chance for all ages to enjoy an evening of live theatre.

Presentation Evening

Barmouth Juniors held a fund raising Presentation Evening on Saturday 17th of October to celebrate the achievements of those who participated in the sponsored walk to the George on the 5th of September. The sponsor money from the walk alone raised an unbelievable £1050 and to top it off the evening raised an impressive £250 through raffles and games. Many Thanks go to all the Children and Parents who took part in the walk and also to everyone who attended the evening in support of the club. A Special Thank you must go to Katie Price and Tracy Judd for all their hard work and effort that went in to collecting raffle prizes and preparing games and food for the evening, a fun time was had by all. Please Come and Support the team once again on Saturday the 31st of October at the Fancy Dress Halloween Disco at The Buffs RAOB Club starting at 5.30PM, all children Under 12 welcome.
