Where future events and specific information are mentioned, these are highlighted for easy reference.

Junior sailing Club

Young sailors on their first day

Strong winds prevented the eight newest cadet sailors in the Merioneth Yacht club in Barmouth taking to the water on the first of their two-day intensive, so it was knots and naming of parts, both very useful on the way to becoming competent sailors. One name they could all remember: the boom. Why is that? ‘Because when it hits your helmet that’s the noise it makes.’ A steady breeze for the second day kept them on the water. For some it was the first taste of the exhilaration of sailing.
