U3A January Meeting

Despite the miserable weather, 20 members of the U3A turned out for a warm monthly gathering at the Dragon Theatre on the afternoon of Tuesday 20th January. It was announced that a visit to Bardsey is being planned for June, in conjunction with the Porthmadog group…Greg Whitelock put his name forward as coordinator from the Barmouth end. Mrs. Betty O’Dell then read from her diary of a Black Sea saga. This was a cruise that she embarked upon around the Black Sea. She visited a number of ports, listened to countless choirs and watched innumerable folk dances…not to mention the churches and other fascinating places she visited. Her limitless energy was amazing. It was reported that there has been a good response to the “Friends of the Dragon “ initiative and more enquiries about this scheme to support the theatre will be welcomed. This year the Dragon will be celebrating its 50th birthday in December. A number of events are being planned and possibly an exhibition. If anyone has pictures or programmes that could be used Allison would like to hear from you. The Treasurer, Geraldine Vincent, gave a very detailed financial report.
