RAOB Cader Idris Club, Children's Christmas Party

Father Christmas came down the chimney of the "Buffs" club on Saturday, 13th December. He was welcomed by nearly 90 excited, well-behaved children. He handed out loads of prezzies then even made it snow, to the delight of all the kids, including the mums and dads. His cousin the blue santa, also turned up, all the way from Russia. Grinch and black Santa tried to steal the prezzies but the kids locked them in the cage. He thanks everyone who helped out with this year's party. They are;

Changing times

With the closure of the Woolworth store in town many memories have been stirred up among older residents of the town, one such coming from Mary Citrine Roberts who happily recalls the days when she ran dance classes in the assembly rooms of the original building on that site.

Literary and Debating Society

After a minutes silence in memory of Mrs Pam Davies, a well known member who had passed away recently the Vice Chairman, Michel Benson introduced the guest speaker for the evening, Rev'd Linda Bailey. A well-known figure in local circles, Linda chose as her subject " Iona, the history and spirituality". Having visited the island on a retreat prior to her recent ordination to the priesthood she outlined the history of this beautiful Hebridean island. Iona was founded by St.Columb around 563 thus bringing Christianity to Scotland. An Abbey and Monastery was founded which over time fell into disrepair until the coming in 1938 of George McLeod, a member from Glasgow who restored the buildings to their former glory. He established a Christian Evangelical which touches all who spend time there. A vote of thanks was given by Mr Barry Rampton. The next meeting will be the "Hat evening" to be Chaired by Mrs Val Vine.
