Old Photographs

Does anyone have any old photographs of stage productions at the Dragon Theatre in the early days, or stories to tell of the conversion from a Victorian chapel in the late 1950s? Barmouth WI met for their first monthly meeting of 2009 and it was well attended. Meirion was sung unaccompanied with much enthusiasm. The president, Mari O’Rourke, welcomed all members, also a new member. She extended sympathies to Doreen Gill on the loss of her mother, Mari Fisher who had been an active member of Barmouth WI many years ago. The president then introduced the speaker for the evening, John Morris, who showed videos of ‘Digital Storytelling. Members found it very interesting as some humour was put into it. Ann Williams thanked me Morris on behalf of the members saying it had been brilliant. The president thanked hostesses Betty Morris, Sybil Jones & Glenys Williams for the beautiful food. The raffle was won by Vicky Pell. Next meeting on 25th Feb

Band call

The Buffs Club will be the place for Blues & Rock on Sat 7th Feb from 9pm onwards If you want to be a player just go along and join in. Audiences are welcome too.

Annual Quiz

The annual “Inter-societies Quiz” took place in the Arts Room of the Dragon Theatre on Thursday 29th January. This year it was the turn of Bermo Arts to host so Chairman David Berrill welcomed Bermo Arts members along with those of Cymdeithas Gymraeg and the Literary and Debating Society, being the three traditional participating organisations. The format this year was slightly different enabling all present to take part. Questions were provided by Barry Rampton and delivered by Anne Court with Val Vine doing the marking. Les Vaughan for Cymdeithas Gymraeg and Rae Cleaver for Lit and Deb thanked Bermo Arts for their hospitality.
