Acknowledgements

I would like to acknowledge various people who are/have helped me with this section. I don't expect it will ever be finished. Dr Lewis Lloyd was the first real contributor, but there have been many others including June Edwards of 'The Old Tea Rooms' in Barmouth, my parents and my brother Paul. As I receive information I will add their names to the list of acknowledgements.

Dr Lewis Lloyd LL.B (Wales), LL.M.(Cantab.), Ph.D. (A.N.U.), F.S.A., F.R.Hist.S.

Some of the information contained in this section consists of extracts from the book written by Lewis Lloyd entitled 'Wherever Freights May Offer - The Maritime Community of ABERMAW/BARMOUTH 1565 to 1920'. (Printed by Gwasg Pantycelyn, Caernarfon). My thanks go to Dr Lloyd who sent a copy to my father so that I could begin work on the history of Barmouth. I highly recommend the book to those who seek to learn about the origins of the town. It contains an enormous amount of detail particularly about Barmouth's maritime history. (The price of the book was approximately 12 pounds sterling ($20))

June Edwards (Owner of The Old Tea Rooms in Barmouth)

June Edwards of  'The Old Tea Rooms' in Barmouth (link provided by Lokalink) has been extremely helpful and has provided me with a number of documents pertaining to the history of Barmouth including a manuscript on the 'Ruskin Experiment', documents about Tilman, Harold Godfrey Lowe and the 'Bronze Bell' wreck. I can also highly recommend the food and service at 'The Old Tea Rooms' and I never visit Barmouth without visiting. Thanks June, I'll see you next time I'm in town for a chat and one of your terrific sandwiches!

Mr. Emlyn Pugh (My Father and the kindest man I know)

My father learnt about Dr Lloyd's book from his old friend 'Will Morris' who used to own and operate the fruit, vegetables and fish shop in 'The Arches' in Barmouth. Dad continues to provide me with help and support for the web site even though he had to move with his job first to Denbigh and subsequently to Llandudno Junction and finally Deganwy. He has translated letters I have gratefully received in Welsh and helped to locate people and resources in and around the Barmouth area.

Other People Who have written

My thanks to others who have contributed in various ways. I hope to include you all in my list of visitors as time allows. Don't stop writing
