Visitors since August 18, 2000

A relatively new club made up of approximately 58 members that share a strong interest in building and flying
radio controlled model aircraft.
They are limited to sailplanes and electric powered aircraft.
Noise and safety are of prime consideration.

ALERT >>>>> With the advent of the new Park and Back Yard Fliers, it has become even more necessary to be aware of how and where we operate our radios. Remember that our radios have ranges up to one mile, or more. Please make an effort to become aware of others that may be operating on the same frequencies nearby. Flying on school grounds and in streets and back yards is particularly critical.

NOW, A NEW POTENTIAL HAZARD!!!!!
We have been advised by a modeling group in Arizona that they are now running into a problem with new individuals that are building RC robots for "BattleBot" competition and they are operating on radios in the 72mh range. They claim to have FCC written approval for use of these frequencies for their purposes. They have been confronted about the problem and appear to be somewhat complacent and not really concerned about us. The Arizona group is looking into the validity of their claims. The most obvious problem is that they can be operating these machines inside of a building that could, perhaps be right next to a flying site. We'll keep you informed.

WHERE ARE WE ?
Geographic Field Coordinates:

N    47 Degrees 03.882 Minutes
W 122 Degrees 51.138 Minutes

Our flying field site is near the intersection of Lister Road N.E. and 22nd N.E. It is a large grass field with a maintained runway 60 feet wide and 300 feet long. It is set on a low knoll which helps when launching in any direction. The prevailing winds are aligned with the runway which lies roughly north/south. The elevation is approximately 200 feet above sea level. We have a radio impound box, outhouse, and 16 foot by 18 foot shelter with tables and chairs. (Plush! Huh?). This is where I do nearly all of my flying now, as I am heavy into sailplanes with electric power.

Other Links-

This site has been created, and is maintained, by: Harold M. Clark Jr.
for the Puget Sound Silent Fliers. Any helpful suggestions will be appreciated.
It is for the enjoyment of all who may share some of the same interests in radio controlled model sailplanes, and electric powered aircraft.
