4.1 History of Molum Pai Kung Fu: In the beginning of the system it really didn’t have a name, it was merely called Wong’s style Wu Shu. Master Wong had been a student under Master H.B Un in London, however, prior to that he was a student of NG Yui in Hong Kong. When Sifu Wong came to the United States he attended Marion College, in Indianapolis, IN. He and his wife opened a Kung Fu School called Wong’s Wu Shu. While the school was open he would go to college in the morning and teach in the afternoon and evening time. He had a hard time competing business wise with the Karate Schools in the area. There were several in the same location at the time.

Master Wong’s thought process was just to keep the school open long enough to get a few dedicated students to pass on his teachings. In 1975, he got want he wanted, three highly motivated Students who wanted to learn Chinese Kung Fu/Wu Shu. Master Wong taught forms of Praying Mantis, Bak Mei (White Eyebrow), Choi li fut, Vagabond System, Wing Chun, and the Jow Ga Systems. While living in Washington, D.C. Master Wong Studied Jow Ga Kung Fu with his friend from Hong Kong for several years, and mastered several forms of that systems.

In 1978, Master Wong finally gave a name to the system we were learning. Mainly his top three students prodded him in to doing it. Master Wong wanted it to stay as Wong’s Style Wu Shu. Master Wong in a discipleship ceremony pronounced that the system of Kung fu would be called Molum Pai Kung Fu (The Way of the Growing Forest).

In 1983, Master Wong was named an Ambassador or Representative to the NG Yui Boxing Association of Hong Kong. Giving him Grandmaster Status. As a teacher Master Wong was always able to get his point across to his most advanced students.

Master Wong’s Lineage:

Bak Mei, Founder of White Eyebrow Kung Fu

Gong Wie, Sim See, High Taoist Monk 2nd Generation

Juk Fut Wa Sim See, High Taoist Monk 3rd Generation

Jun Wy Chung, Grandmaster, High Taoist Monk 4th Generation

NG Yui, Grandmaster, Bak Mei Kung Fu, and Praying Mantis Kung Fu

H. B. Un, Grandmaster Bak Mei Kung Fu, and Praying Mantis Kung Fu

Sijo Felix Tak Cheung Wong: Founder of Molum Kung Fu.

In 1980, Master Wong wanted to return to Washington, D.C. where he still resides today. His three Disciples, Myron Fitch, Tim White, and Mark Driver were charged to carry on the traditions and customs of the Molum kung Fu System. Master Wong appointed Sifu Fitch as the Most Sr. Disciple, then Sifu White, then Sifu Driver. They kept the commercial school open for two years after Master Wong had moved back to Washington, D.C. Then they separated company for several years. Sifu Fitch moved to Washington, D.C. with Master Wong, Sifu White began studying the Jutsu systems with Shihan Dan O’Nan, and Sifu Driver began to teach privately. Over the passing of time and the constant communications with Master Wong, Sifu Fitch, Sifu Driver the Molum System took Shape. It was in a constant stage of change from reality to traditional values.

Although the system was changing, it was evolving to new level, and three different mindsets of training.

The Molum System still had traditional forms that were taught by Master Wong, and then the fighting stage came.

4.2 Mindsets on Training: Sifu Myron Fitch was always fascinated with the Monks of the temples of China and the Bak Mei (White Eyebrow) Kung Fu System, and he was Master Wong's private student for several months. Thus making him the senior of the three disciples of Molum Pai. Sifu Fitch's mindset was on the real fight, and the dead mind, or focused mind. So, when it came to the fight, he stayed center, Bak Mei tradition stance and hand position, and no matter what happened he was straight in and hard, unlike other traditional kung fu specialist. So, his mindset was that real fighting brought real skills to the fighter. He is also a traditionalist in the way he taught this unique mindset. Everything was taught as though he was teaching in a temple full of monks, even if it was one person.

4.2 Mindsets of Training #2: Sifu Driver's mindset was a little different in that he came from the streets. So, street fighting was a main portion of his training. He is very much a traditionalist when it comes to training. He has some unconventional ways of doing them, but his students love him for it anyway. He teaches mostly self-defense, and only a few forms, to those who really want to learn them. Over half of his students are female at this time. Sifu Driver still emphasizes some of the traditional techniques from the forms, giving him additional tools to work with in his training of the Molum Pai System.

    1. Mindset of Training#3: Sifu Tim White's mindset was on how to make it work together. When Master Wong moved back to Washington D.C. it left a gap in the Molum Pai System. Sifu White has also be a fan of the sport arena, but only has a means of networking and learning. Sifu White want to emphasis on self-defense, So, he took he Kung Fu Training and molded it to that path. Then in 1978, Sifu White met Shihan Dan O'Nan an 8th Dan in Okugi Jujutsu. At his time he started on a different path and again went to the self-defense side of the house for training. However, he never let his kung fu system die. While in Europe he competed in International Tournaments with his students, He Developed the Keisatsu Jujitsu System for Law Enforcement and self-defense in general. He kept the forms alive in his training and the theories of Molum Pai grew. So, every aspect of the Molum System plays a role in the training.

NOTE: Although we are separate from each other we all teach Molum in some way, from training theory to fighting aspects to forms. These mindsets just describe how Molum really began.

Brief History of Bak Mei

Bak Mei was one of the five major systems that escaped the Shoalin Temple during the Ming Dynasty take over. The founder never gave the system a name. So, when the master was killed in the take over one of his loyal students named the system after. The student didn’t know his master's full name, so he named the system after what he remembered most about him, his big bushy white eyebrows. Since then the name has never changed.

Special Note: In 1987, Master Wong was named as the White Eyebrow representative to the USA.
