Welcome to our daily living page. A page devoted to our belief's. Hopefully you will find it worthwhile.
As December begins and we Celebrate Christmas for as long as I have
had this web site I have shared with you a Christmas
story that I first heard on Paul Harvey show back in 1972 while
working as a Disc Jockey on Radio KFIR in Sweet Home
Oregon. It is a story that brings home how one man became
a Christian and how he finally made the connection.
Before I begin the story, let me wish each and every one of my dear
family and friends a Merry Christmas and happy
New Year. Elaine and I send our love and special wishes to each
and every one of you! Life is a precious thing that
each day we are given is a blessing!
One day before Christmas a few years back in a small town in Anywhere
USA lived a family a husband and wife and two
little children. The man's name is not all that important,
but for this story we will call him Jack.
On a Sunday before Christmas his wife asked him if he would like
to go to church with her and the children. Jack had been
asked this questions many times and like always he said, "no dear,
you go and take the kids, I just don't understand why
you go to church, but not me. I just can't believe in something
so old." His wife just shook her head gathered up the kids
and left. This had been the one area that they had argued
over since they were married. So many times she had tried to
explain how she felt and although he faithfully listened he would
always back away. This Sunday was no different.
After his wife and children left, Jack lit a fire in the fireplace
and opened up the front window curtains to let some light
in. He thought to himself, "boy, looks like we've got quite
a storm brewing outside." He thought of his wife and how
silly she was for believing in something that was little more than
a myth, he wondered how anyone could worship a
man who was nailed to a cross hundreds of years ago. Oh well
at least this gave him a couple of hours to himself."
He settled down in his easy chair and began to read the Sunday paper.
Just as he started to read the headlines Jack heard a thump against
the window, he looked up just in time to see a small
bird hit the front window. The snow was beginning to fall
and he could see a small flock of sparrows sitting on the telephone
lines across from the house. As he watched one by one the
birds began to fly at the window. It was freezing outside and
the snow was blowing harder. "Why these birds were trying to come
in out of the storm." Some were already injured on the
ground from hitting the window. Jack felt sorry for them as
he had always cared a lot for animals he decided to see if he could
help them. He went outside and the birds flew back up to the
telephone line they were afraid of him. He opened the garage
door and thought now they can get into a dry place out of the cold
and be safe, but as soon as he went inside the birds instead
of flying into the garage where it was safe continued to fly at
the window. Jack closed the curtain and ran outside again
and the birds flew up to the telephone line again he could tell
they were cold and some looked weak. He pointed to the
garage and shouted, but the birds ignored him.
Then he thought if I could just talk their language if I could just
be one of them, they wouldn't be afraid, and I could lead them
to safety and they wouldn't have to die they could live. A realization
overcame Jack as he thought of his wife and children and
where they were and he slowly sank to his knees and for the first
time in a very long time he prayed.
Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you. May your New Year
be safe and good to you. May the Lord of my life bless
each of you. To my children and grandchildren, near or far
you are loved very much! Safe travels to all!
