A Dear Sister Remembered

          Gail Cohen Hofer Born Nov 5, 1944-Nov 16, 2002

                                          Goodbye dear sister Gail

God called and you answered the call
you were needed in heaven to join the Angels
Goodbye dear sister your family will miss you

Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Great aunt,
Sister and dear friend
Gail was all of these things. She filled so many lives,
When needed she was there to answer the call

for fifty eight years she gave her all
Even though sometimes she’d stumble and fall
She’d pick herself up and away she’d go

Dear sister we loved you so
A simple hug was all you’d need
The smile that you gave would just glow.

When I was little my protector you were
then we changed places
I protected you.

I understood much of your pain
sometimes you’d just cry out in vain
Sometimes quiet suffering would be all you could do

Wish I’d heard you this last time
was so afraid that God had called
When he did my tears did flow.

Had I known that you would leave
I’d had given you hug for all to see
we’d talked from sundown to sunrise

We’d have giggled and laughed and teased
Played cabbage door, Fruit raid and more
We’d have rode the bicycle one more time

Held kids in closets with that dog once more
Pretend to be Elvis the King
Pal around with our Cousin Eugene

Grow Garbonzo beans on the farm
Cheer Duane on as he combined them
We’d all laugh and try again

We’d call the President just for fun
we’d try to change a law that seemed unfair
We’d be sure all your kids were there

We’d talk of hope our loves and dreams
We’d be kids just once more
 With Sue Joyce and Pat

Time ran out I’m sad to say
Your gift to us is five fold you see
Debbie, Dewy Tracy, Susie and Kindra

Beautiful gifts for the world to see 11
 grandchildren so fair and sweet
 The littlest angel from Kindra
 Named for grandma and you

Some day dear sister the rest of us
will join and meet and what a time
 that will be.

 Born 1944 Passed 2002

 You are remembered with Love
