Book Covers Advertised by Rage Against the Machine

      The list of book titles that follow is advertised on Rage Against the Machine's pamphlets which accompany the band's 1996 CD's. (The album is called Evil Empire.) On the pamphlets there is a photograph that shows the books spread out and that allows one to read the titles from the book covers. Some editions and publishers that match the books shown in the photographs may not be the same as the editions or publishers given by the present web site below, but it is unlikely that significant changes were made. The phone numbers given for organizations below are given exactly as they appear on the pamphlets.

The editors state in the introduction that the book's collection of documented essays give support for the idea that women should achieve "liberation" by joining in "revolutionary struggle" based on Marxist-Leninism or other socialism.

The book is a field guide to fighting censorship which is directed mainly toward liberalism or far leftism, and the author focuses on examples of censorship of ideas on the left. Stone speaks of "Yanqui Imperialism." Guevarra begins with a victorious tone about communists winning in Cuba, and he describes tactics in detail. He speaks of "the oppressor" and of the communistic struggles in Russia and China.

FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting): (www.fair.org) New York City based organization looks for and campaigns against media bias against liberal concerns. Web site challenges Rush Limbaugh and uses alienating labels to describe him. Slants in favor of "Affirmative-Action" for women and minorities. Supports the idea that global warming is an imminent problem. (October 1998.)

Anti-Nazi League: PO Box 2566, London NH 2HG, England 171 924 0333. Anti-Nazi League's web site gives internet-address links to web sites that purport communism. (October 1998.)

Parents for Rock and Rap: PO Box 53, Libertyville IL 60048. Group that fights against censorship of music, and it was started by the mother of Rage Against the Machine's own Tom Morello. The group decries censorship of rap and rock music which promotes extreme leftism, but not disclosed is when the music calls for the killing of whites. Parents for Rock and Rap completely ignores the outright banning of music which promotes extreme rightism and which calls for the killing of non-whites or Jews.

Leonard Peltier and Leonard Peltier Defense Committee: Lawrence KS organization. 913-842-5774. Native American who was involved in shootout with federal agents in 1975 at Pine Ridge. One Indian and two agents were killed.

Refuse and Resist: 212-713-5657, (www.calyx.com/~refuse/statement4.html 10/22/98). Web site gave info for participants to organize in numerous rallies across the US in protest of police brutality. Links and support for pro-choice views, open immigration, anti-Nazism, and anti-fascism. (October 1998.)
