It was during this time frame Nov - Mar 66-67 that the oudoor cliffside area was used as the then (Outpost Club) while the main club building was being remodeled. T/SGT Johnson was the club manager and overseer of all operations. He was also my roomy, so we worked closely for a smooth transition to the patio area and then back to the main building when remodeling was completed and then came the changing of the name of the "Outpost" Club to the "WASCOM" club. Since I was the point man in the CE shop, We built an outdoor stage (no small feat) complete with lights and artistic background where the visiting bands and USO tours could perform. We used the large concrete pad between the stage and the next wooden building as the dance floor. Along side that wooden building were about 5 or 6 tall palm trees in which we installed multi colored flood lights. Tables and chairs complete with candlelights were set up under the palm trees and at the cliffside patio, for eating, drinking and socializing. With soft ocean breezes wispering in our ears, romantic candlelight dinners and cheek to cheek music, what more could a man ask for. Such was the scene of the Wallace social life during this period in history and one many of us won't forget.
