November 11, 2002 – Uniforms!

My uniforms showed up at my crashpad today.  I knew they were on their way for the past two months but there was just something exciting about it today when the box showed up and I tried them on to check the fitting.

I’ve been waiting my whole life for this.  I mean, I didn’t seriously think about becoming an airline pilot until the last three years but even as a little kid it was something I’ve always wanted to do.  That’s right, I look cool!

I also had an ear mold made today for my new jet headsets.  No more big clunky headsets that I’ve been wearing for nine years to block out all the noise of the propeller(s).  Now I just have a device which is nothing more than an ear piece connected to a microphone and a couple of wires that we are required to use while talking to air traffic control below 18000 feet.  Won’t even mess up my hair.

It’s getting close – I’m starting to feel it.  Checkride in 9 days!
