"G" is Freels Bend area. "H" is Wheat. The Collection now includes A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H with projected completion in Spring 2004. It has been a very large work and very enjoyable and I am grateful for all the support from PGHS. They can be ordered anytime. All Sections are also available for viewing in the Oak Ridge Public Library on their Computers. CDs are also available in Clinton Anderson County Court House and Oak Ridge at AMSE Museum Gift Shop.
Donald Raby will be Presenting the Kingston Demoliton Range program to the Loudon County Historical Society in Loudon February 15th Sunday Afternoon at 2PM. There will also be a presentation of a Set of KDR CDs to Loudon County Library from PGHS. This expands the collection into more local areas where we intended to share this project. This donation will be in memory of Billye Snow, Loudon and Roane County Historian and Genealogist.
Sample Photos
Here are two photos of the building that will be most likely
recognized. This was used first by Telephone exchange as central office when before there was
electricity folks in Scarbrough had phone service. There is an interesting story told to me by James
Brennan about this which I will try to get the details from him. It was owned by Kerr family of Kerr
Hollow, which is the present
site of UT Arboretium and Highway 62 into Oak Ridge.
I think the "Central Office" was located near or just west of the gaurd house on Bethel Valley road
west of where 62 turns north from Edgemoor Road. Of course this has just undergone another
renovation to remove the traffic lights. This is about the center of the area which I currently have
photos. My collections starts near
Solway Bridge and goes west to Scarbrough School.
