This stock flywheel was machined by PBS Engineering. I weighed it before shipping. When I got it back, it was 4-1/2 pounds lighter. They skimmed about 5-7 mm of material off the backside of the flywheel (engine side). It's radiused at both the ring gear step and the crankshaft mounting boss. It seems as though they didn't want to reduce the thickness at either place very quickly, and chose a radius to relieve stresses and even the strength.
