In case you haven't heard, Disney has purchased an island for the final stop of the cruise. Gorda Cay (actually the locals pronounce "Cay" as "key") has been turned by Disney into "Castaway Cay". It is a beautiful desert island, almost exactly what your mind would conjure up if asked to picture a small island in the middle of crystal clear water. Oh, except for one thing... Disney has modified the island so that the ship pulls right up to it...

We awaken at about 7:00AM to find the ship just tying up. From the verandah, this was our first view of the island as the sun rose...

At about 8:30, people began to head for the beautiful beaches. With separate areas for swimming, snorkeling, and boat rental, there is plenty of room. Plus a kids' play area and a beach for teens. And all the time, looming in the background, is the incredible sight of the Disney Magic tied to the island about 500 yards away!

This is a day that everybody adores - great swimming, a terrific snorkeling course, a private beach for adults, virtually everything that you could want. At noon there is an open lunch barbecue where they serve hamburgers, hot dogs, and ribs with several side dishes and salads. An island band plays nearby. Because the ship is so close (a 5-10 minute walk or a short tram ride), you can return to it whenever you want. About 3:15, the ships sounds its unique horn, indicating that it is time to get back. At about 4:00 the ship sets off for the return voyage to Port Canaveral leaving Castaway Cay behind.

For us, dinner on Day 4 is at Lumiere's, the French-themed restaurant (and arguably the most elegant). The room is beautiful, and the food excellent (my best meal!). The only bad part was knowing this was our last night on the ship...

The Day 4 show is Disney Dreams, an unabashed look at all things Disney. Filled with special effects and familiar music, it was everyone's favorite.
