Nellie Byers information in the Nellie Byers letter and also letter from Fanny Pendroy Peters, of Towner, ND.
(Note: that Fanny Peters seemed to be aware of, or accepted as a fact, that relocation(s) were done from what is known locally as the "Pendroy Cemetery",which may explain why the burials and stones are not there today, in the old Pendroy family plot.

Much early information about Jacob Pendroy and descendants was gleaned from a letter from Nellie Byers, written several decades ago now, which I received from a Pendroy family from Aberdeen SD in the 1980s. The letter is in the possession now of many families doing research on the surname Pendroy. In fact, Nellie Byers' letter was in a way the genesis of my research and certainly this site.
According to (further) recent information from the Bolton family, Nellie Byers's born name was Eleanor (Nellie) Conklin.
Eleanor (Nellie) Byers was married to Mr. Dee Forest Byers, who was the son of Noah Byers, who was the son of Isaac and Elizabeth Ann (Pendroy) Byers. Therefore Dee Byers was the grandson of Elizabeth Ann (Pendroy) Byers. Elizabeth Ann Byers was a daughter of (old) Jacob and Margaret (Boots) Pendroy.
(Author note: Nellie was trying to find out about Pendroys that were her ancestors and came from where the author grew up around Monroe, Iowa. She was not aware that there were still Pendroys there where her Pendroy ancestors left from in Iowa.
Margaret Boots, wife of Jacob Pendroy, born November 1st. 1793 in Hardy County, Virginia, died November 3rd, 1874, age 81 years and 3 days
Born to Jacob and Margaret (Boots) Pendroy:

(Author note: These are mentioned in the letter:
| Information was copied from a Pendroy Bible in 1941 in Velva, North Dakota. | |
| Nellie Byers states her mother's people were Drake, Marston and Taylor. | |
| Nellie made a written note next to the 1 line of information on James Martin Pendroy and wife Sarah Baldwin - "(Grandpa - Fannie)" | |
| Nellie called Jacob Andrew Pendroy (who married Margaret Brown) "Uncle Andrew" |

1966 letter from Fanny Pendroy Peters, of Towner, ND.
Author Note: I have printed below a copy of a letter written from Towner, North Dakota, to my aunt in Monroe Iowa, dated August 30, 1966. Towner is near the old pioneer town of Pendroy, North Dakota in McHenry County North Dakota, founded by the Pendroys that migrated there.
Here is the complete letter, which was hand written by Mrs. Fannie (Pendroy) Peters.:
Towner, N.D.
Aug. 30, 1966
Monroe Cemetery Association.
Monroe, Iowa
Gentleman,
Would you please send me information you have in your records of Eli Pendroy and Jacob Pendroy whose remains were moved from Summit Twp. Marion Co SW 1/4 Sec. 16 R77 T19?
I have birth and death dates but not places of birth and am very anxious to find where Eli was born. If you know any Pendroy's left in Monroe I would appreciate name of one.
Thank-you for your time I am using. My family came from Monroe and Otley and started the Pendroy Colony in N. D. in 1882 where this part of N. D. was unsettled. I have the Baldwin history to the revolution but am trying to trace the Pendroy line - without much success.
Sincerely,
Mrs. F. C. Peters
Towner N. D".
