Welcome to Bik'nGrammy's.

It should come as no great revelation that I've acquired the nickname of "Bik'NGrammy" because...

I just happen to be a motorcycle-riding, born-to-be-wild, blonde, wacky, biker Grandma to three boys and one girl.

About Me...

I grew up the oldest of four kids in Pacific Beach, a beach community that is a suburb of San Diego, California.

There were three of us girls and one extremely spoiled boy!

When I was in the 7th grade at Pacific Beach Junior High School I met a guy named Jim.

He was an older man...he was in the 8th grade.

There's two viewpoints to this story but I like his best so that's the one I'll reveal to you.

Now, from his mouth to God's ears, he tells how one day he was eating his lunch in the outside lunch area

and he saw me walk across the courtyard. He says that right then and there he knew I was the one for him!

***WE'RE TALKING THE FOREVER KIND HERE!***. Must've been the 'mini-skirt' and the 'go-go boots'.

Somehow, being 13 years old, I was not quite in the settling-down mood.

And being the temptuous woman I am, I let him pursue me for a number of years...

six to be exact! After I turned 18 I finally said yes to his marriage proposals

and over 30 years later we're still at it! Guess he knew a good thing when he saw it!

Three years after we got married we had our first child...

our beautiful daughter, Traci. And the next year I gave birth to our second child...

our handsome son, Randy. It was then that our happy little family was completed

(at least for the time being).

Our Adventures

Somebody once said we have "gypsy" in our blood...

and who knows, maybe they're right.

But what I do know is this...life is too short for it to be boring

so a spirit of adventure was never lacking in our house.

We've loved camping, dune-buggy racing, hang-gliding, 4-wheelin', river-running,

mountain-climbing, motorcycling (off and on-road), drag-racing and

demolition-derby racing. There never seemed to be much we didn't like to

do and it seemed like we couldn't really settle down in any one place

for too long either.  We've lived in Southern and Northern California,

Baja Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, and now Washington.

But like I said...life is way too short and

when my time is up here I can pretty much say...

"Thanks, Lord...it was fun!"

My Biking

When I was growing up I was the only one of the kids that shared the

enjoyment of riding a motorcycle like my Dad.  So we spent many

Sunday afternoons riding together and I grew to love the freedom of

riding from a really young age.  Early on I loved to dirt ride,

later I got into trials riding, and finally I got into street riding.

In 1987 I wrecked the Harley we had and recuperating from the broken arm

and the busted up ribs I vowed I'd never ride again.

I didn't heal as fast I used to and it just flat HURT!!!

But my hubby Jim just kept telling me the tale about...

it's just like a horse...

if it bucks you off, you just have to get back on.

Sounded fine for him but I had other plans!

All until he brought my Indian home!

So, since 1988 my street bike has been a 1952 Indian.

It started out as a wrecked "Chief" and spent four years

on the computer getting aero-dynamically designed into what it is today.  It has

a sidecar that is hand-made and can easily come off and on...depending on my mood.

(You know, it's one of those woman's things...I have the right and the ability

to change my mind at the drop of a hat.)  It has an 80 c.i. (1340 cc)

factory-racing engine (one of only 10 ever made!) with a 3-speed transmission,

foot-clutch, hand-shift, etc....(translation...ONE BAD BIKE!!!!)

But you don't want to get me braggin' too much!

I've had it in alot of shows and, of course, won a big number of trophies

and it was also featured in two biker magazines but nowadays I just like

to ride her.  Hubby has a 1947 Harley (Knucklehead) so we like to ride

together.  We get alot of looks and tons of "thumbs-ups"

but most of all it just feels good to have the wind in my face.

thumbs up

And there's the added bonus of crankin' it down the highway on a clear and

sunny day, the wind blowing your hair all about, the sweet smell of

the farm fields along the sides of the road, and you look over and on

the two wheels roaring next to you is your very best friend...

that same guy that so many years ago had the insight to know

exactly who and what I needed to make my life feel complete.

***HONEY...IF YOU READ THIS...
THANKS FOR ALL!
IT HASN'T ALWAYS BEEN EASY...
BUT SOMEHOW IT'S BEEN WORTH IT!
AND I LOVE YOU!!!***
