"Giving it the old college try"
Trying to recreate that famous news photo
for their first FNRA reunion in 1983,
Pete drops the guitar.
The guys return to the Fayetteville Pizza Hut
with Pete's sister Caroline and new wife Kay.
It was there they became famous years before for singing
"We're Three Caballeros" in harmony
in front of "Smokey" on New Years Eve.
Almost anybody else who happened to be there
ever after on "Pitcher and a Pizza" night,
heard the same song, many, many times.
Hence they became known humorously as
"The Three Caballeros"
(with a designated driver).
So where are they now?
Sorry. No VH1, down in the dumps, drug or alcohol addiction stories
In fact, they are the only band
NEVER to have been video taped with Pamela Lee
Tim is married, a father, and retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S.Air Force.
He is now a real estate agent/broker in the Fayetteville area.
Johnny's remarried to a wonderful lady named Kim.
They got married in Maui.
Johnny is a husband, a father, and is a computer draftsman.
He also has the JUMBO CO. A custom shirt printing business.
Peter's married and a K-12 certified Spanish teacher.
He also teaches Spanish for continuing education at ABT Community College.
He has this web page, One for Spanish students and Hispanophiles,
Donates a web page for eastern Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and has, of course, www.peteransley.com.
So where to they go from here? What happens to over 1000 of their songs?
Two of which almost sound okay?
One in particular, can only be reproduced?
by scratching poison ivy while breaking a coke bottle
on an upper Lithuanian pole vaulter, with a gammy leg,
singing "Hari Krishna."
They will mildew and deteriorate and the melodies, forgotten, are inherited by the trees.
The words return to wind and spirit and someone else, somewhere, will feel them, say them, play them, and the words will become their own.
Damn! That sounded pretty good! I should write that down. Oh, I just did. Did I mention they were a bit slow?
