More of the Story of the Boys in the Band
Tim met Johnny Hendren at
Fayetteville Technical Institute in Architectural
Engineering class in 1977.
Johnny, was into jazz and neighborhood jams,
and being the highly
talented drummer that he was,
decided these guys needed some rythym
to liven their music up.
He auditions, promising to buy a better set of drums
than his set of 10 year old drums from Sears.
"Ansley, Terrier and Hendren become the FNRA"
In 1978 Tim and Pete unite with Johnny and form the enduring friendship
and talent known as the FNRA.
After countless number of jam sessions and just plain having a good time,
Pete, Tim, and Johnny go down to
United Music World
recording studio in Columbia S.C. to cut some demos.
"Pete loves the Yamaha Grand"
Later in 1978, that demo was sent to "Producer Mike" in Nashville,
formerly of RCA Records.
After "the call" from producer Mike,
they packed their guitars, picks, and sticks and drove to "music city".
The FNRA make their "Big Time" recording at
Toy Box Studioowned by Tom T. Hall.
All Right! Producer Mike knows Tom T Hall!
At this stage, ambition clouds reason.
With "Producer Mike" at the helm, the band is confident their ship is coming in.
Many copies sent to record companies.
They wait but no reply.
"Johnny loves the studio"
All of the sudden when the boys call,
"No hablo ingles".
"Producer Mike" takes all the band's money.
and sends a postcard from his new home
on the island oF Jamaica with a nice note,
"I owe my sucess to guys like you".
Not that they are stupid.
they are too optimistic to think that they've been screwed.
But it sure looks like "Producer Mike" abandoned ship
