COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to explore the works of artists and identify how these works influenced the world around them.
OBJECTIVES:
1)describe in detail intervals, music notations, musical instruments, voices, and musical performances by using standard music terminology.
2)identify music forms presented aurally and through music notation.
3)interpret music symbols and terms referring to dynamics, tempo, and articulation.
4)classify aurally-presented music representing diverse styles, periods, and cultures.
5)identify music representatives of diverse cultures, including African-American heritage.
6)apply specific criteria appropriate for your favorite style(s) of music and offer constructive suggestions for improvements.
7)exhibit concert etiquette during a live performance(s).
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

3) Attend all class meetings.
4) Complete all exams/quizzes.(Quizzes can not be made up.)
5)Email address.
6)Access to a computer.
EXAMS (100) AND QUIZZES (10) POINTS EACH ARE GIVEN AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS, LATE COMERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PART IN THESE ACTIVITIES.
RESEARCH PROJECT: (MANDATORY) 100 POINTS
Any aspect of "The Arts," such as music, painting, poetry, and sculpture.
1. Seven(7) pages, double-spaced, typewritten, correct grammar, and bibliography page (50) points.
2. Two minute oral presentation on your topic (50) points.
3. If you have any questions, see the professor "before" the due date.
IF EITHER THE REPORT OR PRESENTATION ARE NOT DONE BY THE DUE DATE, "100" POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR FINAL GRADE AND YOU WILL FORFEIT "ALL" YOUR QUIZ POINTS.
Evaluation of your grade and the grading scale will be discussed by the professor at the beginning of the semester. It is "your" responsibility to contact the professor if you missed this lecture.
***No test/exam can be made up without "valid" documentation of the reason the test/exam was missed. If (3) three classes (fall/spring) or (2) two classes (summer) are missed "BEFORE" a particular test; you will receive a zero (0) for that test. Also no make-up is allowed. Signing up for the class late, automotive, personal, and children hardships are not valid justifications.
