COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to introduce the students to the basic principles of music in the following areas: theory, form, and history.
OBJECTIVES:
1)notate meters, rhythms, pitches, and dynamics using standard musical symbols.
2)create complex rhythmic and melodic phrases.
3)describe music-related vocation and avocation.
4)evaluate the quality and effectiveness of personal musical performances.
5)understand basic compositional techniques and musical forms.
6)identify styles and characteristics of the pre-Baroque, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Twentieth-Century in musical recordings.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

3) Attend all class meetings.
4) Complete all exams/quizzes.(Quizzes can not be made up.)
5)Email address.
6)Access to a computer.
EXAMS (100) AND QUIZZES (10) POINTS EACH ARE GIVEN AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS, LATE COMERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PART IN THESE ACTIVITIES.
Evaluation of your "grade" and the grading scale will be discussed by the professor at the beginning of the semester. It is "your" responsibility to contact the professor if you missed this lecture.
***No test/exam can be made up without "valid" documentation of the reason the test/exam was missed. Signing up for the class "late," automotive, personal, and children hardships are not valid justifications.
