This was the French variant of the World War One Victory Medal and was created by the law of July 20, 1922.

Authorized by the law of July 21, 1922, this medal commemorated two campaigns in Syria and Lebanon - the 1919-21 campaign in Cilicie and the 1925-26 campaign in Lebanon against the Druze. This examples illustrates the bars awarded for these two campaigns.

This was the standard French commemorative medal for the Second World War. Twelve bars were authorized.

Created in 1958, this medal was authorized for participation in operations in Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Mauritania prior to those countries' independence from France. Some two million Frenchmen were eligible for the medal, primarily for service in the long, bloody war in Algeria. Five bars were authorized: "Tunisie", "Maroc", "Algérie", "Sahara", and "Mauritanie".

Created in 1995 as a general service/campaign medal. Three bars have been authorized so far: "Ex-Yougoslavie", "Haïti" and "Albanie".
