Because there is no international society of echinoderm researchers, the Newsletter is the best unifying document there is.

THE INTERNATIONAL ECHINODERM CONFERENCES
|
|
THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IS GENERALLY HELD EVERY 3 YEARS. THE 9TH IEC WAS HELD IN SAN FRANCISCO, CA IN AUGUST 1996. THE 10TH IEC WAS HELD IN DUNEDIN, NEW ZEALAND, IN FEBRUARY 2000. The 11th meeting is scheduled for Munich, Germany in the summer of 2003.

THE REGIONAL ECHINODERM CONFERENCES
|
|
THE REGIONAL MEETINGS ARE HELD IN THE INTERIM YEARS BETWEEN INTERNAIONAL CONFERENCES, AND ARE INTENDED TO BE TRUE REGIONAL MEETINGS. THE EUROPEAN CONFERENCE HAS GROWN TO BE A LARGE, INTERNATIONAL MEETING WITH ATTENDEES FROM NORTH AMERICA AND THE PACIFIC. THE NORTH AMERICAN MEETING HAS REMAINED VERY SMALL AND INFORMAL. IT IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS TO PRESENT THEIR RESEARCH, EVEN IN EARLY STAGES, AND MEET THE (NORTH AMERICAN) PERSONALITIES OF THE ECHINODERM COMMUNITY IN A LOW-KEY SETTING.
