Directions
The directions are so simple, I am inclined to just tell you to
look at photoGallery.txt
(http://home.att.net/~online_tools/photoGallery.txt ) and see the pattern.
But, here are somewhat more detailed directions (easy if you know
anything about xml and it is not hard if you can just see simple complete
patterns):
Anyhow, basically you just alter the
photoGallery.txt file in SimpleText or Notepad and
you save it AS photoGallery.xml (with Save As Type set to
"All Files" and save with the xml extension): Before you save it,
of course:
You alter the file so it shows the locations,
labels, text, jpg or gif or flv movies or mp3 audio, and other
content so IT IS YOURS and not the files and content used within
MY instance of the application.
Anyhow you can have as many locations with a locationNames as you need.
And each can contain as many photos with filenames, captons and text
as you need under each. Whenever you want, a "photo" can be a flv
movie or a mp3 audio (see more on this below).
Make sure you close EACH photo with an end photo tag () and
make sure you close EACH location with an end location tag ().
In each of the CDATA components make sure you ONLY replace the content
between the INNER [ and ] brackets. Each photo that you have should have a
tag. This tag is INSIDE each photo and the
CDATA tag has no end tag. If you have more photos than my example you will
duplicate an entire unit of this sort:
ElephantsE1 has incredibly beautiful ears.]]>
If you need more locations, add not only a bunch of the units above, but add an
enclosing SET of
(before all the photos) and
If you need LESS LOCATIONS, just delete everything between such a pair
of location tags INCLUDING THOSE TAGS.
If you need less photos delete everything between and
tags, INCLUDING THOSE TAGS
AND
If you need more photos any where (within any given location), I told you how to
add them above.
When you want a slide to show a movie, the "photo" tag will be as follows:
(the filename="movieLoader.swf" is a CONSTANT and used for any movie)
In the CDATA text, tell the name of the movie (flv) to type in (as part of the
instructions)
Similarly,
when you want a slide to play a mp3 audio, the "photo" tag will be as follows:
(the filename="audioLoader.swf" is a CONSTANT and used for any movie)
In the CDATA text, tell the name of the mp3 file to type in (as part of the
instructions)
All the mp3 files, flv movie files, jpgs, and gifs used in your instance of the
Display Utility go in the same folder on your web site as all the files in the
CoreDisplUtil folder (the folder you get when you unzip CoreDisplUtil.zip ).
The stuff you get in the zip contains NEITHER the flv movie OR the mp3 audio,
because I DO NOT OWN THAT CONTENT.
NOTE: When run locally on your computer and NOT from your web site, you may
have to right click and do a select all ON THE TEXTBOX before you are able to type the
name of the movie in the movie blank. Selecting the textbox is NOT a problem when run from
a web site (so this special NOTE instruction is not necessary under that circumstance).
Also: It is often necessary to slightly move the move between mouse clicks on
the forward and back slideshow arrows. (This is the case no matter where you are
running the app from - and so your users may have to be advised on this too; this
seems to be a Flash bug, and is not my fault.)
