Sam stared up at the simple gold band as it hung suspended on a chain. I was small, but it held so much worth fearing.

And... it was killing his master. But Samwise Gamgee refused to dwell on that, and focused his attention to the task at hand. Reaching with one hand, he pulled his master down for a rough kiss.

Pulling back, Sam gently pushed him down onto his back on the bed, running a callused hand down his master's body.

"Oh Sam," he whispered.

"Shh..." Sam responded, silencing him as he offered the only solace he can give...
