Frodo sipped tea as he watched Sam till the soil from his window.

Sam was big, although not a Big Folk sort of big. Nor was he quite as round in the middle as most hobbits. Sam was too solid for that.

But to Frodo, who was slim by hobbit standards, Sam was big.

Sam paused, wiped his brow on his sleeve, and took off his jerkin.

Frodo stared at the expanse of tan skin. He wondered, would it be as warm to the touch as it looked?

Sam turned to the window. “Yes, Mr. Frodo?”

“Just admiring the view.”
