Tolkien and I could never do them any real
justice. They are not mine. I’m just playing with them for a bit.
It’s been three days since Merry showed Pip how to kiss, and Pip wanted to practice…
No… that wasn’t it. He didn’t want to ‘practice’. He wanted to kiss Merry again.
He couldn’t tell Merry that, however. Merry was a lad. Pip knew he shouldn’t kiss a lad. ‘Only lasses,’ his mom once said.
But Pip never kissed a lass before, and he was curious. So he asked Merry to show him how.
Except now he wanted to kiss Merry again. Only Merry.
Pip didn’t see what the fuss was all about, really. ‘Why can’t I kiss my best friend, lad or lass?’ he wondered as he made Merry’s breakfast.
Eggs, with nice crispy bacon.
The smells permeated the air. ‘Other than faces and hands, where could one kiss a lass, or a lad?’
Where could he kiss Merry?
Merry’s voice got Pip’s attention. “My favorite! Thanks, Pip.” Merry helped himself to a plate. “What’s the occasion?”
“This.” Pip leaned forward and pressed his lips to Merry’s, tasting a mixture of Merry and bacon.
It was delicious. He looked at Merry.
“I see. Well, practice makes perfect,” Merry whispered, and he kissed back...
Merry’s plate fell to the floor, unnoticed.
