Jack-the-Ripper era London Metro Police Helmet Badge
- Now long obsolete antique (100 plus year old) circa
1880 Victorian London Metropolitan Police Constable
"Bobbies" Helmet Badge. This badge has seen actual
London Police service during the infamous Jack-the-Ripper
& ledgendary Sherlock Holmes era, and as such contains
the raised lettering "METROPOLITAN POLICE" surrounding
the center area where the London Police District letter
and Constable numbers (such as "H" for Whitechapel &
up to 473 contables of the division) were once mounted
- letter and multiple number slots are only found on the
Victorian era badges, the later post Victorian badges
having a royal cypher center. This type of badge was retired in the
early 1900's and were sent to Ireland for use by the Dublin Metropolitan
Police who wore uniforms just like the London Metro
Police. In 1920's the British Royal Crown was removed from the top
of the badge by the then Irish Free-State Dublin Metro Police, and
a few years later again disposed of as surplus and
sold to the public by the now famous Bannerman
Military Goods Company of New York City. Badge provided
will be randomly selected from several on hand, many
have readable signs of their original London assigned
Division Letter and Constable numbers, this detail
doesn't show in the photo provided, so photo should

Sherlock Holmes era London Police Button
- Antique (100 year old) circa 1900 London Metropolitan
Police uniform button. In the center is large Edwardian
(son of Queen Victoria) King's crown surrounded by a
Royal Order of the Garter Belt containing the raised
lettering "METROPOLITAN POLICE". Button is solid metal
and has a worn from use black enamel finish. These buttons
were once featured decades ago by the now famous New
York Bannerman's Military Goods Company. Two buttons
are pictured to show the front and back sides, but only
ONE button is being offered at the "each" price listed.
Button will be randomly selected from several on hand.
