Voynich Introduction

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this introduction is to suggest answers to the questions concerning the Voynich Manuscript (VMS).

It is difficult to answer all the questions that readers may have. However I will try to answer most common questions that were asked.

  1. The Voynich Manuscript presently is located at Yale University, Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. Catalog # MS408.  

    2. I use copy of this manuscript obtained from Yale University Library.

  2. At that time when I wrote my book " Letters To God's Eye" I did not know  

    3. that in Lydian and Greek Inscriptions from Sardis new evidence will surfacewith the same personalities and dispute as is stated in my book.  This fact alone suggests that the VMS is very old.

    Also by examining the VMS ciphers one can see that this alphabet is transitional from hieroglyphic to the alphabetic system.

    Below in this introduction I am giving explanation how some of the strange

    Letters were made.

    Please note that the later alphabets like Etruscan, Phoenician, Lydian and

    Greek from Sardis has separate letters for Ts, Ch and ShCh.

  3. Yes, the writing that is written by alphabet consisting of consonants only is difficult to read. The best way to explain how to read is by example.

For this example I choose page 6L in my file (on Internet this page is marked as f05V). This page was chosen because of short text. Anyone who wants to check my decipherment can follow the Steps given below.  Please use alphabet given in "The Cipher" section. 

STEP I. The original VMS text is transcribed to current Ukrainian alphabet.

STEP II. Vowels are added (in lower case) to consonants in STEP I.

STEP III. VMS text from STEP II transcribed to form sentences.

STEP IV. VMS text from STEP III is transcribed to current Ukrainian.

STEP V. VMS text from STEP IV translated into English.

STEP III

  1. То ви пане віре по віри? Суст панусі ще однове око і повлада. Пові Око

    2. Божийе, Сустові зажийе око божийе?

  2. Око повіло. Диво повіло вість божуйу, око у Бозі йе. Пустовір повість

    3. йе. Се пові, що віру коха усію

  3. Се ви што пові? Суст віре, око божийе у Козиж йе. Вісте по віри Око

    4. Божийе? Сьу уйаву хвору по віри хова.

  4. Се ви што віре? Одумано йе і вість вола. Суть уважайу, одновили Око

    5. Божийе. Пусту віру вите пише і што бажайе.

  5. Одновите мовили по віри. Пане ви што вола? В Степу вола Око Божийе,

Око було і по волі повісте божий.

     6. Вість волі повіли, Око Бозі реве, кохаш?

STEP IV

  1. То ви пане віре по віри? Суст панусі ще однове око і володітиме. Скажи

    2. Око Божиє, чи Сустові зажиє око Божиє?

  2. Око відповіло. Диво сказало вість божую, Бозя має око. Пустовіри

    3. мають повість. Су я скажу, що віру люблять всі.

  3. Се ви що сказали? Суст віре, Коза має око божиє. Чи Око Боже по віри

    4. вісте? Сю уяву хвору (ти) по віри ховаєш.

  4. Шо, се ви віре? Одумано є і волаю (оголошую) вість. Суть уважаю,

    5. одновили Око Божиє. Пустую віру ви описує і що бажає.

  5. Ви сказали, з вірою одновите. Пане, ви що вола (оголошуєте)? В Степу

Око Божиє оголошує, Око було і на волі оголосе божий.

     6. Вольну вість розказали, Око Бозі реве, кохаш?

 

STEP V

  1. Mr. Is that you who believe in your believe? Miss, your Sust will renew eye

    2. and will rule. Tell me Eye of God; will God's eye of Sust heal?

  2. Oko answered. The miracle told this news; baby god (Bozia) has the eye.

    3. The empty believers have the news. This we will tell, what I believe everyone likes.

  3. Is this what you are saying? Sust believes that Koza has God's eye. Does the

    4. God's Eye is informing with believe? This sickly imagination you are hiding in your religion.

  4. What, is this what you do believe? This is well thought out and I do

    5. announce this news. I do respect the truth; we renewed God's Eye. You are describing empty religion and what you are wishing.

  5. You told that religiously you would renew. Mr. What are you announcing?

        God's Eye in Steppe will announce, Oko existed and in freedom will

        announce the one from God.

     6.  News of freedom we told, baby god is howling, do you like?

 

The above given example do not show all the combinations in VMS.
