MODEL ROCKETRY
So your interested
in rockets, huh. Well, You are about to find that model rocketry is a fun,
educational, and most of all, SAFE hobby. Model rockets are mostly made
by Estes and Quest. All you need to get started is a rocket, engines, and
launch equipment. A lot of people think of a model rocket as a poor man's
roman candle. That isn't true at all. If you don't jerk around(like trying
to get the 7 foot rocket to hit the cat stuck in the tree across the street),
it's as safe as riding a bike and you'll still have fun. Model rockets
are made of a strong but light cardboard body tube with plastic or balsa
wood fins and nosecones. They ARE reuseable. The rocket is ignited electronically,
and returns safely on a streamer or parachute, hopefully. Engines are the
only thing you'll need to replace. Black
powder motors are used to power the
rocket. They come in sizes from 1\2A to D. You don't need any kind of permit
or wavier to fly these because most model rockets only go up to about 1,000
feet although there may be certain state laws reguarding flying model rockets.
