Zorra

ILR # 90007
female b. 7-8-1989
Balzac x Margarrita

Zorra is a stunning classic female who had been retired from breeding when the price of llamas plummeted from artificially (and ridiculously) high to the reality most livestock producers live with -- "lucky to break even." In early 2007, our friend Niki Kuklenski of JNK Llamas was offered Zorra, and asked us what we thought of her. We thought enough to trade her Zorra for future breedings to Ceilidh.

We don't know if Zorra is still reproductively sound, but she is definitely healthy enough to support a pregnancy, and her physical soundness at 19 years is an additional impressive trait in any breeding animal. If Zorra can still reproduce, we will breed her once or possibly twice (if she remains in unquestionably robust health) and then place her in a quiet retirement home with her lifelong friend Miaka (both llamas are stressed by being in a larger herd). If Zorra can't conceive or hold a pregnancy by the fall of 2008, we will place her and Miaka as soon as the perfect home can be found.

Zorra is settling in and letting us know what she likes (grain, grass, and open space, for starters).
