Miaka came to us with Zorra; they were the last two females left at their farm (the owner stopped breeding when llamas stopped selling for big bucks ... because he really didn't like selling llamas anyway). Nobody was about to leave Miaka alone with Zorra leaving, so we agreed to take Miaka also.

 

Miaka has impressive physical attributes and an acceptable classic coat ... and she definitely needs to gain some confidence before anyone can take advantage of her potential. We are helping her gain experience and filling in the blanks in her basic training so she can find and be happy in a good, permanent home.

Miaka had the physical potential to be an excellent pack llama for a number of years yet. Unfortunately, she strained her hip shortly after arriving here (we don't know for sure, but based on her input, one of our "boss" llamas must have pegged her after she failed to show appropriate respect). It now appears that she will not heal up completely, and will always have one very slightly weak rear leg ... and that completely nixes packing.

Miaka is waiting for her friend Zorra to either reproduce or not; then both are looking for a home together where they can live with only a few females and no geldings so Miaka especially can relax and doesn't feel she has to "watch her back" every second.
