Finys weighed in at 24 pounds, grew into a stately classic female. She was not too sure she wanted to claim a human, but -- too late! -- Jim claimed her.

Finys has nothing but generations of classic llamas with proven packing talents behind her, and we have every expectation that she will do her parents proud. Between her genes, outstanding physical characteristics, boldness, and notable intelligence, Finys is definitely a "keeper."

Finys has appointed herself part of the complete official greeting committee (along with Ceilidh) and enjoys mooching attention from us, too.

Finys is on a breeding lease to Susan Baldwin, Sunora Llamas, from March 2007 thru late 2008; her cria will be by Sky Rocket. We breed very few llamas each year, and leasing a few of our select females, such as Finys, allows them to make a greater contribution to the classic gene pool, and also allows dedicated classic llama breeders access to females that would otherwise not be for sale.

Finis Mitchell was an avid hiker, climber, outdoorsman, and wilderness advocate whose "stomping grounds" was the Wind River Range in Wyoming (a favorite packing area of ours). Finis declared that "We don't stop hiking because we grow old -- we grow old because we stop hiking." A fine philosophy for llamas and humans alike!

"Finys" is our Celtic (Welsh) adaptation of the Latin "Finis," which is not actually a given name by tradition; it's Latin for "end" or "conclusion." Finys was Dallys's last offspring for us. She is quite the explorer and we fully expect her to be a natural-born hiker and packer like her namesake.
