"How'd She Do That?" (6th and Last Page)
The scales are on (I work in sections and rebake between them to prevent
them from getting "mooshed"), and I have started the painting
process. I use between 5 and 12 different colors on any one
dragon (this one has seven). It takes almost as long to select the
colors I want and get them on the dragon as I do making the dragon in the
first place! From here on it's detailing, including painting the eyes
and getting them sealed in with tinted acryllic gel and using the same
gel to make "eye lids."
Start to finish, it takes about 3-4 weeks. (I can only work
on a dragon for about 3 to 4 hours a day due to my other jobs)
Of course, mounting them on a base is time above and beyond that, even
though it's a mandatory step...
Well, that's basically how to make a dragon. I haven't shown everything by
any stretch, but I'm still experimenting and this is just an example on my
"growth chart."
