0-10 VDC analog Encoders with DMX512 merge.
Northlight's Encoders will accept 8 up to 48 channels of 0-10 VDC while receiving a DMX512 data stream from another source.
The 0-10VDC is combined with incoming DMX to create single DMX output.
No complicated setup, basically the board is plug and play. Easy to use screw terminals.

  • The Northlight Systems DMX Enc1648 board is capable of receiving DMX512(1990).
  • The Enc1648 will convert 16 to 48, 0 - 10 VDC, analog inputs into DMX512.
  • Analog inputs of 0 - 5 VDC is available on request.
  • The Start Address switch has 2 options described below.
  • The Start Address is used to determine the position of the analog voltage in the DMX output data stream. This way the analog input can be used to control any DMX channel.
  • Jumper setting allow the analog input to override the DMX512 input or compare to two and output the highest of the analog or DMX.
  • Jumper setting to hold the last valid DMX input or have the output go to zero on DMX loss.
  • Receives all 512 DMX channels.
  • Will output all received DMX512 channels with no changes.
  • Enc1648 16 channel encoder is expandable to 48 channel with expansion board.
  • Fast RISC microcontroller and Assembly language firmware.

    Select a switch type when ordering.     		Mini DIP Switch
    The Mini DIP switch is mounted on the circuit board.
    Use this when infrequent address changes are needed.
    The address is entered in standard binary code, starting with 0.
    panel mounted switch     		Pushbutton Switch
    The Push button BCD switch requires a rectangular hole in the panel.
    The switch is a snap fit in flat panels up to .060" thick.
    The Address is entered direct starting with 1.
    Includes LED and connecting lead. Push button, direct reading.

    SPECS:
    Analog input: 0 -10 VDC.
    This board expects a conditioned signal. If the encoder board is to be used in a noisy environment, external signal conditioners should be used.
    DMX512 input: Accepts DMX512 digital stage lighting protocol up to 512 channels.
    Address switch: Address selection is via a 9 position mini DIP switch or Push Button BCD switch.
    Power requirements:
    Merge16: 8 to 12 volts DC @ 80 mA.
    Board connections: Power and DMX output connections to the board are made via screw terminal blocks. Acceptable wire size is 18 - 24 AWG. See manual for connector locations.

    DMX output signal details: Output is compliant with USITT’s DMX512 1990 protocol.

    Note that the timings are not as fast as the protocol allows. This should accommodate all compliant receivers.
    Red Power LED: The Red LED indicates an analog input.
    Green Signal LED: If the green LED is blinking, there is no valid DMX512 input signal present.
    If the green LED is on, but dim, try to reverse the DMX signal wires. A valid signal will produce a steady bright LED.
    Switch MountingThe BCD pushbutton address switch is a snap fit for a panel up to .13" thick. Connect to board via 14 pin ribbon cable.
