| Creating Small but Effective Background Images With PSP5 |
| When faced with the task of selecting an image to use for your Web Page background, many people are first inspired by the appearance of the graphic. Consequently, the file size of the graphic is often forgotten. Unfortunately, this leads to long downloads and can drive your audience away.
Today we are going to create a few background images that are very effective, but also very small in file size. Let's fire up PSP and get started! |
| Open up a New image (File | New) and use the following settings.
Width = 1 Pixel
Resolution = 72 Pixels / inch Background color = White Image type = 16.7 Million Colors (24 Bit) Click OK |

As you may have already guessed, your image is much to small to see or work with! |
| Go up to View | Zoom In and Select 16:1 |  |

Ahhh! Now we can see our image! Let's head on over to the next page create our background image. |
