Twilight of a Traffic Light

In 2004, after operating in flash mode for some years, the old signals from the corner of Maple Street and Madison Street in Morristown were finally scrapped.  As of this writing, the signals have not been replaced, as the traffic probably does not warrant a new one.  As it turned out, these signals were removed by a contractor whom I know, so they were in my hands for a while.

This is the signal in its last days of service, left in flash mode.  I suspect that more signals may have stood at this corner, but were knocked down in an accident.  These are "flat-topped" Marbelite signal heads, with the older seven-inch long tunnel visors.
Later at my local contractor's place: With all but two visors off, we crammed the hanging 3-way cluster into the trunk of my Prius.
The post-mounted two-way signal had a good amount of corrosion.  In the picture on the right, Mike from Long Island prepares to dismantle the light at my place.
At home with another toy...
After scraping the corrosion from the signal housing, and removing, cleaning, and re-installing the lamps and lenses, I hung it up in the garage.

I eventually sold it to another collector.

Another little gem I found at the contractor's place is this Marbelite flasher.  I painted it with the paint seen here.  I am now using it with a clustered beacon signal in my basement.
