New Jersey certainly offers some varied diving.
The top picture shows one of Kerry's best dive buddies,
Bill Schmoldt diving off of Cap'n Zero's boat the "John Jack".
The above set of pictures shows Kerry's first set of ice dives.
They were done back in 1988/89 in Lake Greenwood, which lies
on the New Jersey/New York border. The top one shows Herb
Segars (famed underwater photographer) standing ON Lake Greenwood
with some ice sailers in the background
The bottom two pictures we taken in the summer of 2001 on the
John Jack. Kerry's the one in his reliable coveralls.
These most recent dives (on the John Jack) were to a wreck
called the Thomas Abears. It was an ocean going tug
that was pulling a barge, and one night a nuclear submarine
hit the cable and pulling both the barge and the tug underwater
in a matter of seconds. They both lie in about
150 feet of water.
