Summer of 2002 - OK some Spring and Fall thrown in as well

What would the summer be without a few visits to the Jersey shore.  The picture on the left is a true rarity:  a deserted Jersey beach.
The picture on the right was taken a day when there were CRASHING waves at the shore.  The picture doesn't give it justice.  You can see Tommy
huffing and puffing (after being knocked down by a wave, and Kari  is dashing back out into it.

We also did quite a bit of bike riding this summer.  One day we were roaming around Piscataway (NJ) and we found
an area within a play ground that was under construction.  It made for a great little biking "track".

Early in the summer we were blessed with an extended visit by Bob the Turtle.  We found him crossing the street
near Tommy's school.  He "hung" around with us for a few weeks and then finally we let him go in a little pond
that truly is turtle heaven.  It was a tough day for Tommy, but it was best for Bob.  The first picture gives our imitation
of an All State commercial starring Bob, and the other picture shows Tommy getting ready to let Bob go (click

During the summer the kids were at a YMCA camp.  Kari did take two weeks off and attend soccer camps, and Tommy
also took two weeks off and took a cartooning class at a nearby COLLEGE!!!  He was only 9 and already made it
to college.  One of the highlights of the camp were the house back riding lessons.   The above pictures were from the end of session
show, and you can see Tommy and Kari in a cloud of dust, and then the two of them running the gauntlet.  The below left
picture shows some of the award ceremony.

Becky and the kids headed to Ohio in July to visit her sister Nancy, and her new baby Ian.  In the above picture you can see Tommy
and Kar along with Nancy, Ian, and their cousing Paige.

There were also seveal visits to Six Flags Great Adventure.  Early in the summer, Kerry had the chance to chaperone a field trip
for the band/choir.  There's a picture from that shows Kari and 3 of her friends in the front row of Nitro, along with Tommy and Kari at Hurricane Harbor.
