Disney/Orlando 2002

Once again we made our annual trek to the land of the Mouse in late August.  We again stayed at the Polynesian Resort
within WDW.  The kids were most looking forward to the "mouse boats", in that Kari was finally old enough to drive one.
However, the highlight of the trip for everyone turned out to be the Cirque du Soliel.  We went to see their production
of "La Nouba" in Downtown Disney, and the kids just LOVED it.  It was truly great.

Personally, I think a close second for the highlight of the trip was during one of our trips to Islands of Adventure.   We
went in to eat at the Mythos Restaurant, and Tommy's tummy hadn't been feeling very well that day.  Hence, he and I
headed to the restroom, and I apparently didn't explain to him about the difference between throwing up IN the porcelain
god and not ON the porcelain god (and the accompanying wall, floor, etc ... ).  Soon he felt better and I of course was
reminded of my younger days when I was a chief maintenance engineer for a small department store (i.e., janitor).
Meanwhile, while I was "sanitizing" the facilities,  Becky not only gave away my lunch (I had eaten about a third of it, and
had hoped to finish it when we got back), but she apparently decided that the waitress didn't have enough to do, so she
told her to go ahead and take my plate.   In addition, Becky committed a real faux pau in that while asking the waitress
what she "did", Becky told her that " ...well I have a real job".    A Freudian slip to be sure, but that's the stuff that legends
and tall tales are made of.  Of course the kids and I kept reminding her of it the rest of the trip.

A few pics from Islands of Adventure (alas, no pics from within Mythos) are below:

Another high point was having a late dinner at Chef Mickey's one night (within the Contemporary).  Despite
the fact that a certain Duck kept picking on the Daddy person, it was a great evening.  We also had a very
nice lunch (one day complete with a visit from Goofy and pals) at Disney/MGM.

At the Polynesian, there were several highlights.  Of course Tommy wanted to spend hours and hours at the Arcade,
we took several rides in the Mouse boats, and we've included a picture of the ladies at the Kona Cafe.     There was
even a time when Kerry was sort of of invited to a wedding reception.  He really didn't crash the wedding party
per se, but he was walking back to the Polynesian from the Contemporary, and there were some real Red-Necks/Hillbillies
getting married at the wedding chapel.  He stopped to let the wedding party get to their  limos, and apparently a couple
of the "brides maids" thought he was a guest and invited him to come with them to the reception.  Alas, he had to say
no, and soon he was back at the Polynesian.

(Remember, that you can click on some of the smaller pictures and see a larger version).  Note there is one picture that
shows Kari and Tommy in their Mouse boats, literally running circles around Daddy and his Mouse boat.

Another surprisingly fun place, was within Disney MGM: the Honey I Shrank the Kids play area:

We also had a lot of fun within the Magic Kingdom on  Tom Sawyer's Island .  It was definitely one
of Kerry's favorite spots.
