Winter 2008
The 2007-2008 winter was highlighted by several outstanding (winter)
track meets: Kari set several school records and culminated in her
winning the State Sectionals in the 1600m with a 5:17 time. It
also
had four very
nice ice
climbing trips, and surprisingly ended up being a very good ski
season, with Kerry getting over 10 days of skiing in at a variety of
locations: Whiteface (in the Lake Placid, NY area), Okema &
Sugarbush (in Vermont), Windham (in the Catskills of NY), along with
Shawnee and Blue Mountain (in Pennsylvania). December of 2007 started
off great - very cold and snow and it looked like it would be a banner
year for ice and snow, and then around Christmas the warm rains hit,
and the next several weeks were dismal. However, the cold came
back, and it ended up being very good winter. In January we
headed into NYC with Kerry's dive club to see "Spamalot" on Broadway,
and then eat at a very nice French restaurant.

Above you can see our Bo Dog (who we sadly lost in July of '08) out in
our snowy backyard. In the next couple of pictures you can see a
running snow llama (aka Missy-Mutt) and another view of our snowy yard.

Again, Kari had a great Winter track season: there is a picture of one
of the outdoor meets and also a view of the NYC Armory (where Kari set
a
school record in the indoor mile).

Kerry finally broke down and bought some new skis ... yes he
semi-retired his old straight "195 dinosaurs" and bought a pair of
shaped skis.
It ended up being a nice ski season with Kerry getting over 10 days on
the slopes. The highlight was the trip to Vermont (with several
members of his dive club - MUD) where they skied both Sugarbush and
Okemo. In the next 4 shots you can see a view from the top of a
very windy and cold Whiteface, then the view from Windham very late in
the season, and finally a couple of shots on Okemo (you can see Kerry,
Sue, Don and Gary in those shots).

Also, in the latter part of the Winter of '08, Kari turned 18!
Of course, no North East winter could be complete with several ice climbing
trips (and below you can see Kerry climbing in the Catskills).
