Coffman  Summer 2005

The Summer of 2005 was indeed a very busy one!!!  We finally convinced Tom to get a bigger bike, and that ended up being one
of the best decisions ever.  He loves the new bike, and it made things so much easier on the much longer bike rides that we did.  We did get
in quite a bit of biking - at times getting out at least 3 or 4 times per week.  We never did manage to arrange that long bike ride in
Pennsylvania (I guess that is what next year is for),  but we did a LOT of pedaling nonetheless.    One of the pictures shows Tom (and the
bikes) on a ride in which we stopped off at a little lake in Piscataway.  The other photo shows the kids at the reconstructed Colonial Village
that is in Johnson Park (along the Raritan River).  In that shot you can even see half of Kerry's 1976 Takara ten speed!!!   His bike
is nearly 30 years old and is still logging the mileage!!

Kari also had a great opportunity to attend a summer program that emphasized International Relations.  Only being between her
Freshman and Sophomore years (in HS), she ended up being the youngest person accepted to the program.   She was at Georgetown
University (in Washington, D.C.) for 4 days, then another 4 days at Columbia University in Manhattan!!  It ended up being
a great program, and she had a terrific time.   The picture on the lower left shows some of the welcome home celebration after
she finished the program.  In addition, Llama-llama (aka Missy -Mutt) had another birthday this summer and of course
we also had a celebration complete with cake and doggy treats!!

Tom also attended an animation class at a local Community College that summer, and we can see him trudging
across campus to his class.  In addition, the kids did get a chance to try to drive a standard shift car (in big
parking lots).  There is also a shot of Tom before his first attempt at a standard shift!!

There was also summer soccer, and of course HS soccer workouts and tryouts. In addition there were
baseball games, rock climbing and scuba diving.   However, one of the
big trips we took was our annual Summer Trip to the Adirondacks.  Below you can see the kids and
Becky on the top of Owl Heads on a gorgeous, albeit windy evening up at the Daks.
