Coffman - Climbing 2005

Even though Kerry wasn't able to get out onto real rock as much as he had hoped to, in hindsight it still ended
up being a very good climbing season.   Kerry had the chance to climb with several partners throughout the
year including: Sudha, Rich, Angelique, Phil, Rich Dlesk, Sam, Sonya, Ian, and Hillary.   He was able to
climb at Allamuchy, the Gunks (both the Trapps and Near Trapps), and the Adironacks.  Below are a few
pictures of most of these folks:

Above are a couple of shots of Sudha.  The upper left one shows Sudha and Rhea at Allamuchy, while
the one on the right shows Sudha leading Casa Emilio.

The lower left shot shows how the rope managed to tie itself into a knot when we were pulling the rope
after the first rappel on Casa Emilio, and the lower right picture shows Kari starting a rappel on Casa Emilio.

During the summer Rich Dlesk was able to get up to the Gunks (from North Carolina), and he and Kerry were
able to hook up and climb one day.  The lower left picture shows Rich in the Black Fly area of the Gunks.
Another great day of climbing was when Angelique and Phil also came up from N.C. and Kerry was able to climb
with them.  We had an incredible day of climbing at the Near Trapps (including getting caught in a wild and violent
Thunderstorm at the very top of Yab-Yab-Yum-Yum).  There is a picture of Phil and Angelique, and she is getting
reading to start the lead on the 2nd pitch of YYYY.

Kerry was also able to climb with Sam a couple of times up at the Gunks.  You can see Sam at the second belay spot
on Gelsa.  Kerry was also able to climb with Sonya a couple of times, and there is a picture of Sonya belaying in the
vicinity of Boston (near the Uberfall).

In addition, Kerry was able to squeeze in one day of climbing during the family vacation up at the Daks.
One of the climbs he did was Labatt-Ami.  The lower left picture shows a climber on this climb. This
is actually a photo that Angelique sent Kerry, since it is a better shot than the one Kerry took on his trip.
The photo on the lower right shows Ian leading Pete's Farewell - a really cool classic at the Daks!

The photo on the lower left shows a rope on the Short Job/69 climbs at the Trapps, and the other
shot shows Hillary rapping down.

Kerry was also able to get up to the Daks three times for  ice climbing.
