and National Prep. Place winner:
USAW / New Jersey is assisting to organize Four exciting road trips for New Jersey's outstanding wrestlers. All are very prestigious events and will draw a lot of national attention from college coaches, media and fans. See "events" section of State Chairman's Web Page. Trip#1 is for High School Seniors: Brute and the PA Wrestling Coaches Association are sponsoring a Select Team Tournament between NJ, PA, OH and NY
Date: Saturday March 16th. Location: Liberty H S; Bethlehem, PA
Eligibility: Highest place seniors in the NJSIAA States and/or National Preps. Weigh-ins are Friday evening with a 5 pound allowance. Brute will be covering most all of the costs including a warm-up and singlet. Contact John Welch 908-766-6828
Trip #2 is for High School Seniors: National Wrestling Coaches Association's will host the Senior High School Open Tournament
Date: April 5-7, 2002 Location: Carpenter Center of The University of Delaware
Eligibility: Any senior who has placed during their 4 years of high school in their State tournament or National Prep Tournament for prep school wrestlers.
This is an individual tournament. The first 32 entries will get priority entry. USAW/NJ through will be happy to assist you in deciding if you should attend, planning the trip, cost, and much more. HS Federation wts + 5 lbs. The New Jersey Chapter of USA Wresting will have a coach available at the event. Weigh-ins for this event will be on Thursday April 5th. Trip #3 is for High School Underclassmen: The National Wrestling Coaches Association's NWCA/DWA/USAW Scholastic Duals.
Date: April 5-7, 2002 Location: Carpenter Center of The University of Delaware
Eligibility: Highest underclass place winners who elect to go.
This is a team trip. USAW/NJ through team leader Robert Bonnette will select the team based on the success of participation in the NJSIAA State and the National Prep Tournament. The team will wrestle between 5-9 dual meets. HS Federation wts + 5 lbs. Wrestlers on this trip can not be coached by their high school coaches. The team will depart 1 pm Thur April 4th. Trip #4 is for High School Seniors: 13th Annual National High School Coaches Association's National High School Wrestling Championships.
Date: April 4-7, 2002 Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Eligibility: Any senior who has been during their 4 years of high school a National Prep Finalist (champ or runner-up) or Place 1st-4th NJSIAA States.
This is an individual tournament. USAW/NJ through Mr. Carlos Garay will be happy to assist you in deciding if you should attend, planning the trip, cost, and much more. HS Federation wts + 3 lbs.
