Politics and Patriotism
Webbot the American speaks out about the Election Process

ok, I've gone political this week... it's widely assumed that Webbot was awakened from the womb by the recent elections that exposed gross negligence on the part of politicians and government elections officials that allows untold numbers of voters to lose their rights to vote without being told...

so apparently, for now at least, Webbot will babble on relatively seriously about politics and more specifically about the right to vote and how secure that right really is in the USA... that's virtually the only writing I did (cuz I was working a lot too) for about ten days after the elections... Webbot is the now the character going public on me even more than Newsbee ever did (Newsbee wakes up and sees a challenge... can Layla be far behind? J

of course this renewed social conscience could be my way of avoiding the stagnating social life and slow progress of work life and challenges the car and empty wallet are presenting... and it could be my latest attempt to expand my interactions in the hopes I'll find more friends and that elusive soulmate... or maybe Webbot is just a concerned citizen J

in any case... I've taken up the cause of election reform and voters rights, joining a half dozen new email groups and creating a half dozen more... I am finding the lack of interest in the Florida groups so typical and reinforcing my sense that Florida is on average an uneducated far from intellectual state... so whatever am I doing here?... the climate, of course... or is that... vegetating, of course...

and just in case you started taking me seriously by reading the other pages in Webbot's World, this is where the babbling can give you a chance to disregard me so I'm not noticed by those who'd bug my phone or assasinate me... unleashing Webbot (or is that hatching?), the semi-artificial intelligence (though origins have not been discovered completely yet, could prove dangerous... this is my clever attempt at self preservation (wink)...

I am astounded that see few seem to care about their voting rights... it could be few Floridians are interested in email groups or even online... or maybe they, like a lot of people, think the internet is AOL... so anyway, I watched The Patriot yesterday and here's my
and there's more, but I am just learning how flawed the election process is... anyway, it all began when I found
this site somehow... it's posing (weakly) as a non-partisan organizing website for groups asking for a recount and fair voting practices after the Palm Beach fiasco... but it's really pro-democrat... still, seeing some assume that everyone (which would include me) who was interested and might want to get involved in cleaning up the mess election process was pro-Gore inspired me to respond...

and then, being a somewhat addicted to creating email groups, I saw a lack of a local Orlando group so I created one... when I saw there was no group for Palm Beach, the place that started the can opening, I created one for them... and sure enough the campaigning began as if the election was next week instead of last week... so here I am wondering how dense and narrow minded and selfish people can be, still trying to be a voice of moderation...

and before I knew it I was in the Florida group offering a hug...

it wasn't long before I introduced Votergate to the world (the world has yet to discover it)... and then, of course, I had to answer the burning question, so What Is Votergate? and before I could stop the momentum of the message I was campaigning for election reform and attitude and in keeping with my tendency to be a devil's advocate (and demonstrating there may be no limit to my imagination, here's A Letter From A Buchanan Supporter (scary huh?) J

anyway (flashback with dream sequence music), it all started in the Trust The People group with me answering a question about creating groups and soon slipped over to the Clean Vote group (less partisan) with me asking Where Are We, America? as I pondered getting more actively involved... so I did... and as I try to maintain balance, sometimes even a voice of moderation needs to slant the opening of a message toward the group to persuade them to actually consider trying non-partisanship, but I think I'm doing ok J

and while Webbot is truly non-partisan (I'm not sure I am though, I just don't see a candidate I'd want to vote for out there anywhere), some double standards are surfacing... either you trust the people or you don't trust the people... apparently politicians only trust the people who vote for them...

Webbot will be back to ramble on some more and until them, here are some URLs to learn from and what might be more important than anything, a way to actually get some satisfaction no matter who you support J
